Meet Tonka, he is a therapy dog who knows that when times are not so good, his presence is necessary. In the past year, he has made several visits to patients at Cedar Pointe Health and Wellness Suites in Texas. He has never stopped making others happy. In the last few days, the measures taken due to the coronavirus had threatened to suspend these activities.
Residents of the senior care facility have self-isolated, limiting contact with the outside world. Luckily, Tonka has found a way to continue spending time with them without putting their health at risk. Instead of entering the building as they used to, Tonka now greets residents from the windows, letting them know that they are not alone.
The residents were happy with Tonka's visit
It was nice to see the expressions on the faces of the elderly when they were surprised to see Tonka in their window, said Susan Peters-fineske, Tonka's companion. When they raised their hands against the window, they caused some tears.
Some presidents made signs letting Tonka know how much it means to them that he was there
They hope this is not Tonka's last visit. As this situation continues, he will continue to give love through the windows to the residents, until they can be together again.
I'm so lucky to be there, said Peters-fineske.
