Steph Toogood has always dreamed of having her own rat art business. The origin of this project has an interesting past. “The idea of painting on canvas came after I lost one of my rats, Captain Jack Sparrow (brother of Gibbs) in 2018,” explained the owner of the rats.
Jack had undergone surgery but never woke up from anesthesia. While Stepth was at the vet, she was close to her pet and was able to get some paw prints after Jack passed away.
According to the official website of these animals, there are 12 rats in this project. Steph also wanted to make it clear that she sees her rats as friends and not just as artists. "They are my best friends and will not spend their lives covered in paint, no matter how high the demand for their art is at the moment," Steph posted on the rats' official Facebookpage.
Steph also made it clear that while the Facebook page is for her rats, it is not the only thing she wants to focus on. "I don't want to use this page just for their art, my goal is to promote the care of rats as pets and their well-being, as well as share what they do outside of painting," said Stepth.
Steph decided to sell her rat art, and she sells a wide variety of products like key chains, hair bands and more. However, her Etsy store currently does not have any products available, it turns out that people bought everything she had available.
