Ever wanted to live a fairy tale? If you grew up watching fairy tale movies maybe the answer is yes. Well, people who live in Giethoorn, Netherlands are lucky to live in a village that looks like something out of a fairy tale.
This town, also known as "Venice in the Netherlands", has a unique architecture as well as a lot of vegetation, which makes it look like it was taken from a fairy tale book. This small village was founded in 1230, and guess what, it doesn't have any modern transportation.
How do people walk? Well, in the village there are canals, and bridges. Everyone uses boats to transport themselves, including tourists visiting the village. A curious fact is that tourists who decide to visit the village have to leave their cars quite far and walk.
The village is very calm and quiet - the only loud noise heard is the squawking of ducks, even the village's official website says: "Here in Holland's water village of Giethoorn the loudest sound you can normally hear is the quacking of a duck or the noise made by other birds." This village really looks like something out of a fairy tale book.
